Hi, I'm a new member and have a problem with a Tecumseh XL 6.0hp which is on a 6/63M ride on mower. I have lost all compression and the valves are not moving when turning the engine over. I suspect the camshaft is broken and need to open the crankcase. I don't see a way of taking off the manual drive clutch and pulley off the crankshaft and can't find a manual to show me. Any help would be great, thanks. Bye the way I live in France.

Hello B.,

You didn't give much information to go on with your posting

I take it you are referring to a Champion Mountfield rider.

From the sound of it, this engine has destroyed itself internally. Usually, the crank pulley is held on by a recessed Allen head set screw.

Thanks for replying. I will have another look. Unfortunately the 6/63m refers to a lot of different makes of engines on the mowers. I ill take some photos and atach them .

Should be a retaining screw for the clutch. Also can be rusted in place... Either way be careful removing as the pulley appears to be NLA.
