2008 Exmark Lazer Z broken deck strut

Does anyone know how to remove the strut from the deck? There is a nut and bolt but it's connected to a plate which seems to be welded on. Do I have to cut that metal plate off?

You don't want to destroy the pin.

The following is an example only as you didn't the mower's serial number which is how we lookup the Exmarks.

First you need to remove the retaining bolt and nut [items 16 and 17] then you use a couple flat head screws to get pin started out and then pull the pin out.

Note> There must be no weight on the deck and the strut as that will bind the pin. And hopefully this area has been kept greased; otherwise, it going to be hard to get the pin out. If I remember correctly you can drive pin with a long punch from the backside. Oh I you ask before I sent the Exmark here yesterday morning as I could had double check things.

I see, the pin is part of that flat metal piece. That helps a bunch. Thanks so much for taking time to explain that to me!!!

Is it the pin that broke? Pictures would help us to understand wat you are referring to as the "strut".

Item 49. The Exmark/Toro, Husqvarna, and Yazoo/Kees have used these on some their commercial mowers,

The Yazoo/Kees that I just returned had the strut. Now many of the Yazoo/Kees [Husqvarna in disguised] parts are listed as NLA but some of the Exmark parts are the same like springs and pulleys. Before I had both mowers sitting on the repair yard I didn't know this so modified a spring to fit the mule drive.

I just paid a ridiculous to have a NLA hose made up but I have found and received the correct ferrules and ordering crimper later this month so that I can repair the current hoses myself around here. I'm going the manual hydraulic crimper as it a third of the price of the electric version. The Exmark does have a different hydraulic setup.

Yes, it's #49 that broke. The rod part of the strut that connects from the deck to the body... the pin was fine. I just didn't realize there was that big pin holding the strut on the deck. When I was looking at it, it looked like that flat part was welded on or something. I'm not the most mechanical guy in the world, lol. But I easily got the pin out to remove the strut from the deck with StarTech's advice. I've ordered a new strut and it's on the way. So this one's been solved. THANKS AGAIN!
