I have a Gravely Pro-Turn 160, Kawasaki FX730V. Today while my son was mowing, it just started stopping on him. It will crank right back up, but then stop again. I checked the oil level (it is good) and it has a full tank of fresh gas. Any input will be much appreciated, as we have to mow almost twice a week right now!

Have you checked your fuel filter?

Try running with the fuel cap a little loose and see if it keeps running. If it does the tank vent valve is stuck or bad.

Check carb after-fire solenoid.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have checked all of this, except for the after-fire solenoid. This is my next task. It only stops after the motor has been operating for 45-60 minutes, and once it sits and cools, it will run perfectly until it heats back up. When cranking after this event, I have to use full choke to get it to crank. It seems to me like some electrical component is heating up and failing.

Normally, those conditions are a clogged fuel delivery component or a failing ignition coil. If you require choke then fuel is at the top of your list. Long shot is the gas cap not venting.

3 things that make a gasoline engine run. Proper amount of fuel with air, compression, and spark. Figure which is missing.
