We have 20 linear feet along our driveway that slopes away 2:1 or a little steeper. The total area is approx. 180 square feet. We were able to grow grass last year, but we're concerned erosion is starting to get a foothold this spring. My plan is to put down an open weave jute or coconut blanket to protect the area, then overseed. The manufacturer says it can be placed over an existing lawn but I'm wondering what others think. BTW, because of the slope I don't mow the area.

Sounds good. An open weave jute or coconut blanket works well for slopes it allows grass to grow through while holding soil in place. Since you’re not mowing that area, it should hold up fine without disturbing the blanket. Just make sure to pin it down securely, especially along the edges, and overseed before laying it for the best results.
