Thanks again, Rivet. One question: what is the cap that I can push up?

Do you recommend that I just leave the cable crimped? Or is there a way to straighten it? And do I just squeeze the lubricant up top, where the cable sticks out of the rubber tubing around it? (You can tell I'm a novice.) Thanks to both of you, R & B, for your advice.

Do you mean a little oil on them?

The cable that activates the self-propel feature of my Toro mower has somehow developed a crimp (see photo). It does not affect the mower's performance, but I'm wondering if and how I should straighten it out. Any advice is appreciated in advance.
