Thanks for the reply. The original solenoid was a four post, and was replaced with a four post and wired as the original. I guess I'll try the key switch next. My storage area is not very weather tight and it may just be very dirty and perhaps has some corrosion. I guess that's the next step...

It is a Standard. Model SS613. I can't get it to come up on their website. It is the type that is not mounted on the starter itself, but bolted to the frame of the mower. From what I understand, it doesn't matter which way they are wired as it is basically just a switch.

I have a Toro SS5000. I replaced the starter and the starter solenoid. My battery is good. Now, when I turn the key, the engine cranks but does not start. When I turn the key off, the engine keeps cranking. I'm very confused. Maybe bad ignition switch?
