Just a quick update: the replacement carb and thermal switch arrived and were installed. I fixed some damage to the governor control arm and did the idle adjustment procedure. Now the mower starts with one pull and idles perfectly. I have no idea how the wrong carburetor wound up on that engine...
Yes indeed. I was a regular on a Mustang forum and I try to be as helpful as I can to anyone willing to try and take on a repair themselves. Many times other members just reply with “use the search” or something worse. Folks just want some help and that’s what I got here! Thanks again!
You are correct, I have the GCV160LA0 S3B. I know I’ll need to replace the thermowax cylinder because it’s leaking. I’ll go ahead and get the 901 carb kit. Thanks for your help, StarTech!
StarTech, the only other thing I found was S3B* after the model/serial stamp. I don’t mean to pester you with this but I’m trying to repair this for someone that really needs it.
