Ladies & Gentlemen, I seek your wisdom. My mower will start fine but when cold it takes several minutes of sputtering and puffing black smoke to decide to speed up and run. It has new carb, coil and plug. Once it warms up and starts first pull every time and runs fine.

After a short blast of starter fluid with no response, I pulled the engine cover. Coil was clearly suffering from being wet somewhere in the past, very rusty and absolutely dead, once replaced it fired up quickly. Went ahead an replaced the fuel filter for good measure. Machine has no hood so...
