Thank you Star Tech for your reply, that is what I thought and that is why I did not use RTV but I thought I would ask before moving ahead. Maybe you have a answer to my other post about the ACR that I posted earlier titled Kohler courage 18hp.

Working on my Kohler courage 18hp and I was wondering what the difference would be using a sealant rather than a gasket on the top cover.

I replaced the rings in my tired old engine and when I went to reset the valves I was turning the engine around to bring it up on top dead center I noticed that at one point both the intake and exhaust were going down at the same time then the exhaust came back up and the intake kept going down...
