    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

NLA sure is the killer of many things! For a Metabo-HPT oscillating tool that came missing a part last week, the part was "Obsolete no replacement available" the very same day that I bought it new in the box from Lowes. (Lowes gave me no problems returning it.) And, that model is still for sale...

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

I can surely empathize with your frustrations, PapaJack! Battery tools can often be frustrating- espeically when the manufacturer coats the circuit boards with black epoxy so we can't diagnose & fix them! Most of my hand tools are plug-it-in-the-wall. I get to keep working while my co workers...

Buying a forever lawnmower. Lawnmower buying advice.

I'm partial to electric. No more gasoline to buy and spill, no more oil changes & other P.M. tasks. Friends have Ego, Kobalt (Lowes) and GreenWorks. They all love them and each is several years old. I believe parts for Ego and Greenworks stay available for many years. I never looked into Kobalt...

    Corroded ring terminal, battery cable

The bonding brushes look like they'd be handy in electrical distribution work where stuff gets really corroded. Thanks for posting it, RedRick. Those wire brushes for cleaning oxidation off of copper tubing before sweating joints work well, too. You can get tapered ones for inside and circle...

    Corroded ring terminal, battery cable

The anti-ox pastes that are castor oil based waterproof very well. (Burndy Penetrox is one) Ideal's NoAlox also waterproofs, although I don't know what the carrier grease is. SDS is mute on the subject.

    Corroded ring terminal, battery cable

Don't use Dielectric grease. Webster's Dictionary: "Insulating. Unable to conduct electrical, energy". Use instead the stuff mentioned on Page 3. Paul

    Corroded ring terminal, battery cable

Speaking as an industrial and distribution system electrician, what FarmerDave said about anti-ox paste is a reply to be remembered. The stuff I build, install & service is subject to all manner of corrosive evils from road salt spray to corrosive aerosols. Using anti-oxidant paste is a cable...

How to make file size smaller for pictures so that I can show pictures from my phone it keeps saying they are too large.

Our Motorola G phone can't take RAW which is one reason that I have a "real" camera. My ZTE could not either. Nor can my wife's iPhone. To shoot RAW with iPad & IPhone, you need certain versions (12 Pro & 13 Pro for iPhone). Some earlier ones can shoot with a 3rd party app, but none I've tried...

    how to start my business

Maybe try Selective Insurance Company. (selective.com) They insure in many states & were hundreds of dollars less expensive than the others for my business. Hartford has fairly reasonable rates if you are over 50 years old and go through AARP. (TheHartford.com and AARP.org) I have...

    how to start my business

In the U.S. we get the benefit of being able to have a Sole Proprietorship which saves the start-up (and ongoing) paperwork of incorporation. (Plus the IRS' deep scrutiny of S-Corps lately) Amen x ten to Liability Insurance!!! Paul Disclaimer: My company is a Subchapter S Corporation with LLC...

    how to start my business

Thanks RolandW for posting this. Here's a great example of why having a real business and deducting is to your benefit: In 2021 the vehicle costs (repairs, fuel, insurance, maintenance) for my business were $18,623.00. I deducted them instead of taking the standard mileage deduction. At the 12%...

    how to start my business

It's great that in most states (if not all) you can have the advantages of Sole Proprietorship and LLC in the same business. In Michigan, you can even have an LLC S-Corporation. LLC is great protection if the company has debts that it can not pay. Your own home, bank accounts, spouse's job pay...

    how to start my business

Some Thoughts, Bolensst140: Form A Real Business- I suggest forming a legitimate business for many reasons. It can be easy. Many types are "no lawyer needed" and some are "no paperwork needed". The main reason to form a business is so that you can buy liability insurance for that unfortunate...

OK to use synthetic oil ?

An engine lubrication engineer for one of the car companies told me that if you switch to synthetic on an old engine, do the next oil & filer change sooner to get rid of the newly dissolved & dislodged solids. For me, just as Crazy Charlie mentioned earlier, old engines start leaking after...

How to make file size smaller for pictures so that I can show pictures from my phone it keeps saying they are too large.

My Motorola Android phone only takes giant photos with multi-megabit file sizes and large dimensions. It's easy & quick to shrink the file size and the dimensions on a Mac computer. (I don't have an iPhone or iPad, so I don't know if these work on them.) If you happen to have a Mac available...
