Changing Simplicity Prestige Hydraulic Steering Cylinder

If this is the setup I think it is Snapper has a very similar mower and the swivel fitting for the hydraulic hose going to the cylinder is on the hydraulic steering box in the lower console area. This is not a hose you want to be experimenting on. That ORB fitting on the steering box is...

    Spindle Bearings

Agree, The word if true or not about filling housings is anedotal at this point. One source says to not fill a wheel bearing spindle full of grease because the extra heat retention could cause problems. Then there are several trailers with greasable spindles that you are suppose to replace...

    Spindle Bearings

@GearHead36 I don't know if it was a proven fact or some word of mouth that spread about, with the original reason being trying to save grease. But back when I was playing mechanic on M813A1's, it was taught to not fill the wheel spindles full of grease because it caused the hubs to run...

    Spindle Bearings

That was the concern with overpacking wheel bearings. The extra grease causes heat retention leading to premature bearing failure. You are correct that the grease will conduct heat better than the air, but the issue that @woodstover is trying to bring up is that grease also retains the heat...

FS600V w/ no regulator or stator?

Need to double check that ohm reading. Because if that 1 ohm is accurate that clutch is pulling 12 amp. Resistance should be in the 2.3-3.3 ohm range. Normal clutches pull 2.5-5 amp normally with some closer to 6 amp which would be a mininum of 2 ohm resistance.

    Cub Cadet Kohler KT725-3013

Green wire on Kohler engines normally goes to the oil pressure switch either next to the oil filter or on some Command engines the oil cavity between the V that feeds oil to the hydraulic lifters. That one looks like it has been shorted out and got hot.

    MTD deck height

Look at it this way. Most of the box store riders have 18-9.50-8 rear wheels. So the axle is basically sitting 9 inches above the ground. And the transmission housing above the axle where it mounts to the frame. So the frame is now sitting 10-12 inches above the ground. Now subtract the...

which red fuel filter, 1/4 inch inline ?

I don't use the red pancake filters. Not fine enough filtering to prevent debris from not sticking the float valve open. I start with the white pancake and then go up in quality from there. The red filters are 150 micron and the white ones are 75 micron. I use the white ones for gravity...

    MTD deck height

Correct. a 1/16" wear over several contact points can quickly add up to 1/2". And you know as well as myself, that over time a lot of those wear points get egg shaped and the combined wear between a deck hangar, the deck pin, and the deck lift arm can equal 1/4" or more just at that point...

    MTD deck height

Not without replacing everything below the steering wheel. Now let me explain. Being 21 years old every rolling point, every pivot point is worn and those even small amounts add up to 1" or more in deck height. From the tire tread wearing down, to the wheel bearings and the spindles that...

I have seen several cases of grease failure over the years. A couple of those cases was Valvoline synthetic wheel bearing grease. Your trailers don't have brakes and greasable hubs. It looks like you have confirmed that the original module is bad, and sounds like the new replacement module may also be bad. And most modules use a .010 air gap. Business card is closer to .020 which may be too wide. So try setting the gap closer and see what happens.

I haven't seen any crack from people trying to use the paper gaskets, but I have seen them warped at the mounting flanges so bad that the O ring won't even make contact with the head mounting surface after somebody tried to use the paper gaskets, and the mounting ears compress into the paper.

Vote your trans-axle lubricant of choice #00 vs Cornhead vs Bentonite vs 75-90 gear oil with Lucas oil stabilizer.

It isn't so much as a preference to what you use. It is what the manufacturer recommends. The old Peerless gear transaxles used bentonite in most cases but there was a few that used 75W90, and the Peerless hydrostats used 10W30. Hydrogear uses 20W50, but Tuff-Torq recomments synthetic 5W50...

    Briggs Intake Manifold Gasket

If the existing O rings are in good shape then reinstall them. Don't remove and use the other gaskets or try to put the gaskets over the O rings. The plastic intake that is used with the O rings is not rigid enough to properly torque a normal gasket. And could create an air leak at the junction.
