HRR216, Cleaned shaft, still won't roll backwards

But don't you just want to know why it stopped working? :-) Yes, it's more for the challenge. And the sense of accomplishment when I get it done. It's a nice break from my very stressful day job. I've been fiddling with it since at least May. I started by replacing the carb, thinking that's...

HRR216, Cleaned shaft, still won't roll backwards

I've now got both wheels and wheel assemblies off and the axle does spin freely. The axle looks to be pretty clean and free from rust or pits that would cause it to bind in the wheel bushing. I've also removed and inspected the belt and it doesn't appear to be dried out or cracked or shiny. I do...

HRR216, Cleaned shaft, still won't roll backwards

I'm reluctant to get involved with trying to rebuild the transmission until/unless I can be sure. Is there any alternative at this point? Does it really sound like the transmission is the problem here? How can I test it before taking it apart?

HRR216, Cleaned shaft, still won't roll backwards

Hi, I have an HRR216 S3DA MZCG-6078970 basic lawn mower that I picked up at the curb. After getting it to start again, I realized that it doesn't roll back on its own and doesn't go forward under load when the self-propel system is engaged. I've followed a few videos demonstrating how to take...

    HRR216 Carb Problems

Thanks again for your help. The throttle assembly didn't appear to be bent in any way, so I wanted to avoid bending it, unless it was absolutely necessary. Turns out I was able to simply adjust the throttle cable by just loosening the Phillips screw, sliding the cable down a bit, then...

    HRR216 Carb Problems

I think I know what you're talking about. The picture here is from when the throttle is fully ON. The choke should be in the closed position but it is not. You are right that it doesn't appear to go up far enough to fully close the choke. The arrows in red are part of the assembly that connects...

    HRR216 Carb Problems

Thanks so much for your help. It is fully open with the throttle in the fully on position. I believe it should be closed, to allow a greater concentration of gas to get it started, correct?

    HRR216 Carb Problems

Given how difficult it is to replace the carb again, is there any way to make adjustments on it once it's installed? Do you think it's possible it just needs to be adjusted? Could it be related to the air/fuel mixture screw?

    HRR216 Carb Problems

Hi, I have a Honda HRR216 that I picked up off the street and trying to get running again. I replaced the carb, and it starts with a bit of starter fluid, but not on its own. There's no primer bulb. Are there other adjustments I'm missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you - I'll order a new one.

    Adjusting drive belt on HRR216 S3DA 21"?

Hi, yes, I should have been more clear. It looks to be fixed. The tension doesn't look to be adjustable. There's also already quite a bit of travel with the cable that I feel like it should be engaged fully.

    Adjusting drive belt on HRR216 S3DA 21"?

Hi, I have a Honda HRR216 S3DA 21" that I picked up at the curb. I replaced the carb and it's now running great. However, the mower won't move. If I lift the back wheels above the ground, they do spin when the self-propelled bar is engaged, but not enough power to go forward on its own. I took...

    Honda HRR216 S3DA 21" Won't Start

Hi - no one has any tips or advice to offer about what I possibly could be doing wrong? Anything I should watch out for when replacing the carb or trying to get it to start?
