Welding on a generator frame question

Shouldn't be a problem or cause damage to weld on the generator frame if caution is used. The only caution is to place the welding ground clamp adjacent to where the welding will be done. Even this shouldn't be an issue but doing so prevents stray current from possibly passing through any...

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

Interesting discussion, I can relate to both the thought that a tractor is a luxury and justifiable due to age. When young and if totally honest, more ambitious, I push mowed a full acre. That seemed a better way to stay fit than to pay for a gym membership like many friends were. My luxury...

    Craftsman deck exploding

I've often found that if I can work on items of this nature that getting them up on a bench, unattached to the tractor is easiest. As I've aged this helps even more. The 60" on the 430 is too heavy to lift alone so I use the cherry picker.

    Corroded ring terminal, battery cable

Don't know your age but if mower is 26 years old, replacing with original quality could be good for a lifetime. That said, 8ga copper, the more strands the better, with heavy copper terminals is the way to go. Like said earlier, solder the terminal if possible, there is no place then for...

Walker Super Bee ( Briggs 18HP Vanguart)

A little more clarification: mine is a 2008 production year Walker model MBSD, Serial 93430. Powered by Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 18 hp, horizontal shaft. Removed the carb top today and checked the float/needle to the extent they can be checked. In my younger years the floats were copper...

Walker Super Bee ( Briggs 18HP Vanguart)

I will dig deeper but the manuals found so far on the Walker site all relate to the mower assembly itself and don't provide engine specific information. Based on previous experiences I suspect the engine is simply getting too much fuel, acting as if the choke is on when it isn't. Air filter is...

Walker Super Bee ( Briggs 18HP Vanguart)

I have a very low time Walker powered by an 18 HP Briggs Vanguard. It is runnng very rich and surging. I took it to the dealer but they have been unable to fix. Was thinking about buying a new carb but installation appears to be a very major effort. Don't know if there are videos on this but...

    18 HP Vanguard running rich

I have an 18 HP B&S Vanguard powered Walker Superbee that is running too rich. Black sooty smoke, new plugs sooty and greatly reduced power. The choke butterfly is fully open and air cleaner replaced. Is there an adjustable jet or other solution from experience by others? All suggestions...

    Walker 18 HP Vanguard

I recently acquired a low time (300 hour) Walker Super Bee powered by 18 HP Briggs Vanguard. It seemed to run well initially but now appears to be too rich. It emits black smoke, blue as if oily and consumes no oil. The choke butterfly is full open and air cleaner appeared clean but was...

    Yard Cruiser

I'm looking for either experience or what may be called a "shop" or mechanics's manual for the Lawn Cruiser. Thanks, but this appears to be the Operators Manual that I already have and doesn't detail the specifics of what to remove for access to replace the two hydro cables operated by the joy...

    Yard Cruiser

I have a Snapper Yard Cruiser, Model HZS15422VE, Kohler 15 HP single cylinder. Is there a manual available anywhere for this unit? I need to replace one, probably will replace both, of the hydrostat control cables. The sheath on one can be seen as broken from the attachment point. If a...
