For me on my hrx it seems like it always the right wheel assembly that messes up.....

I run amsoil small engine oil in darn near all of my outdoor power equipment with great results so far,my hrx has near 500 plus hours on it

Yes sir,Valves have been adjusted and yes the cover was a bear to get off.....it runs perfect at full throttle.......the funny thing is that my choke flap never opens completely opens up and after a good hour of mowing i can reach down and open the choke flap all the way and it doesn't run quite...

Carol,if adjusting the cables don't help the problem,you need to disassemble rear drive wheels and clean the ratchets and inspect the ratchet springs along with the rest of the drive parts for wear.such as thickness of washers,pinion gear wear and thickness of inner and outer snap rings.hope...
