Pre mixed fuel vs mix it up yourself

When I was at the JD store in northern Michigan, we had a lot of Stihl equipment come in for various smoking/non starting/ not running right complaints. We'd ask the owner what fuel they were using. Most bragged about using rec gas from the local co-op. The assumption was this was ethanol free...

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

I worked in the service department of a JD dealer for a couple of years, primarily in the lawn and garden area. We sold the same tractors as the big box stores, plus the bigger real John Deeres. Everything on the E and 100 series was cheaply made, but cost as much to service or replace as on...

    Used oil

I take mine to the local Walmart. They take it at no charge. Some will take filters too. I've also found some auto parts stores will take it, sometimes they charge.

    How much is this worth?

Sounds like fun. Might check into local laws, so you know what you're up against. Might just have to add some lights. Add to the learning experience!

    How much is this worth?

I had to Google this to find out what it is, I'm assuming it's shown in the attached photo. I don't really know the value, but suspect it isn't very high unless you find somebody who thinks these are really cool, or has one he needs spare parts for. The lack of response to your question...

    52 in deck belt diagram

It's parachute cord, but a shoelace should work just as well. I actually don't tie it on, just run it through, wrap both ends around my hand, and pull. It's a modification of how parachutes are closed. I 've thought about making a tool out of a piece of stiff wire with a hook on one end, and a...

    52 in deck belt diagram

This may help. It's the 52" deck from my Conquest. Note that there are 2 belts, and the pulleys for each are in a single plane. One goes to all 3 spindles and the lower idler, the other goes to the PTO on the engine, the left spindle, and the upper idler. The white shoelace on the idler arm is...

    Cut of height motor

I didn't see this suggestion (next page) until after I tried to follow Rivets' suggestion. When I took the connector off the switch to check continuity, I accidentally took the switch apart. I put it back together, tried to check continuity again, but realized the reason I wasn't getting...

    Cut of height motor

My new motor came today, and I need to go to town and get some metric bolts to fit it. In the meantime, I connected the wires to it and tried it out. It works the same as the old one! it works when I push the switch in the "up" direction, but not "down". I checked again with a VOM, and I get...

    Cut of height motor

I just ordered a Flip motor, from the manufacturer (a few bucks less than Amazon). It will be interesting to see how it holds up. I found mostly positive reviews when I googled them, but there aren't a lot of reviews. I wonder if my rough yard is hard on the motor(s).

    Cut of height motor

Checked with a volt meter this morning and it's +12 one way, -12 the other. I took the linkage apart to work it manually, tried the motor without it pushing or pulling anything, it still only works one direction, so I guess it's the motor. Still unsure which one to go with.

    Cut of height motor

Thanks. I'll check that. So far I've just used a test light.

    Cut of height motor

I've got a 2021 Conquest (2691676-00). The cutting height motor seems to have gone bad (I've only got about 50 hours on it, probably half mowing). The last time I put the deck on, it would only raise the cut height, not lower it. I've got juice to the motor both directions, so I believe the...

Mower band and unidentified plastic part broke! Where does it go?

I would also check your manual for how to engage and disengage the PTO. It probably says to do so at full engine RPM. When I worked at the local JD store, we found that belts flop around a lot more if engaged and disengaged at idle than at full engine speed. We started asking customers how they...

    22 Broadmoor Deck Roller Questions

Back to the Broadmoor: The most unique feature of Simplicity tractors, in my opinion, is that instead of carrying the deck, they pull it. This lets the rollers adjust the cut height close to the blades, rather than relying on the tractor tires and all the variables between them and the deck...
