Thank you - you nailed it. It was grass and leaf buildup on tne Slow / Fast linkage. Cleaned it out and it runs fine now. Cannot explain about the model number - HR214 is printed on the label and HL is stamped on in the blank space next to it.

I went to cut the grass today and the low speed did not propel the mower forward. The high speed setting works fine. Everything else seems to function properly. Both speeds worked fine when I put the mower away last week. What should I look for and/or adjust ?
