    Best for hills?

I don’t think Toro sells those in the US any longer.

    Best for hills?

On flat ground a larger deck will require fewer passes. You might also have an easier time trimming with the extra deck space. Since JD suspends their decks you will get more deck tilting on the uneven areas.

    Best for hills?

Depending on the slope even a 4-wheel drive GT has limits. I would encourage a visit by a couple dealers and seek their advice on a local level.

What makes it a mulching mower?

Definition......Grass mulching or circular grass managementIt is a specific mowing technique that finely shreds the grass into small particles. These small particles are then blown back over the lawn and evenly distributed between the grass. In a perfect situation I would agree. In real...

What makes it a mulching mower?

I agree. And if you are only taking off an inch at a time how could any of the 1” clippings ever get recut?

What makes it a mulching mower?

I find it difficult to fully understand how mulching works. How can a grass blade be cut and recut while it is spinning in the same direction as the mower blade tip is pushing it? How can a mower deck that is designed to lift the cut grass and keep it in suspension also distribute the final...

    Best for hills?

I’m glad you have a great experience with your Cub unit. Might be a better choice than I thought on your model. My experience is quite different.

    Cub cadet zero turn

Good point GearHead36.....and why do ZT's not have a reverse safety switch at all?? Probably some out there but I have never seen one. It's certainly a less observed safety from most ZT manufacturers. Not sure what the new Electric Battery Powered units are doing.

    Best for hills?

The idea of differential lock is for the added traction when you need it. ZT's tend to tear up the turf when turning. Unfortunately the only steering wheel ZT that I am aware of is made by Cub, and they have a horrible build quality. I'd stick with a tractor .

    Best for hills?

Consider a used tractor with limited slip or tractor control features that engage both rear drive wheels for added traction and tractor stability. JD 500 series, Simplicity Conquest. A ZT on slopes can be dangerous and frankly much more difficult for the operator. Have a dealer bring one out...

    Cub cadet zero turn

Do not remove safety devices. Very little to gain and so much to loose.

    Deck holding grass

I have tried fluid Film on a couple of occasions in the past but it never seems to last very long. I have scraped the deck spotless, applied multiple coats giving it overnight to dry before applying additional coats and it still comes off after 2 or 3 mowings. MowDeck had the same results. The...

I need a plug aerator that is reliable, sturdy and won't break the bank

You could rent a plugger. You also might be exposing weed seed imbedded and dormant as you aerate ( just a thought). The Agri-Fab pluggers are cheaper and if you wait and do your aeration on a wet lawn you will get good penetration, possibly adequate enough.

    Deck holding grass

A thick growth may also be a concern as a tall growth. Thick grass will slow blade speed and may be clogging the deck due to the additional amount of cuttings. I would also test a normal set of cutting blades vs hi-lift blades. I realize hi-lift blades will cause the grass to lift better but I...
