Thanks SO much for the help. The problem was a stopped up gas cap.

John Deere rider with 19.5 HP B&S model 31P677 just stopped running today. Same thing happened a few weeks ago, fuel filter was stopped up, replaced filter, everything seemed fine until today. Mower stopped and there is very little gas in the filter - maybe 5-10 drops. Time to replace fuel...
