Old Iron Horse LB Found Me

I always hoped I’d run into one those very early models. Looks to be all there. Nice find.

California law bans small off-road gas engines, including lawnmowers and chainsaws

People use to head to California for warmer weather and the promise of a better life. Now I hear many are leaving and this will be another reason for more to leave. I feel like going into my garage and starting all my Lawn Boys in defiance of this stupid mandate. Will this include mopeds...

    '58 Lawn Cruiser surging.

Wayne, your mower looks like a fantastic find. It is definitely a re-branded Lawn Boy from the late 50’s and appears to be lightly used. It would be nice if you could post a few more pictures of it. As Wingless mentioned, the mechanical governor may need to be examined. The “block” on the deck...

Ended up with a LawnBoy 8481AE Aluminum Deck, Self Propelled, Electric Start

Models with that type of handle design were known as “school bus” models because they were like trying to maneuver a long school bus in tight places. I suppose the real purpose was to allow easier cutting under thick hedges. They are not a favorite of mine, but hey, it’s a classic 2 stroke Lawn...

Nice finds! It’s amazing what a little TLC will do for some of those Lawn Boys. Good work.

    Horsepower for a 7268

I recall when the F engine was introduced, it was advertised as a motor that produced up to 4 horsepower. Take that for whatever it’s worth. All I can tell you is that it was more powerful than the D series that came before it. I’ve been cutting my lawn with mostly F series Lawn Boys for over...

Widow Need advice on Bolens Lawn Mower & Yard Machines Snow Blower

First of all, I want to offer you my heartfelt condolences. I think it’s pretty hard to put a price on these items without actually seeing them. Are they in good operating condition? Do they start easily? The asking price is always higher if it runs. Snowblowers will generally go for a higher...

Model 10600 commercial connecting rod failure

The only question that I can answer with absolute authority is number 6. Use this product and only a small, thin amount is needed. Make sure your mating surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. I have used this on many F motors without any failures.

Lawn-Boy 7268 Restomod Odyssey - Grab some popcorn and your favorite beverage!

What’s all the fuss about? Let me help you understand why vintage Lawn Boys are generally worth fussing over. 1) They are simple and lightweight with their 2 cycle engines and easy to start. 2) They hold up and last as long as the are given reasonable care and maintenance. 3) They were and...

Lawn-Boy 7268 Restomod Odyssey - Grab some popcorn and your favorite beverage!

Very nice. Way better than the new stuff that is sold these days. Whoever buys it should get many years of good service.

WHat is value of my 5247?

Just a few more things to help you— You can probably find a service manual online in pdf form. Exploded engine views and parts listing can be found at partstree.com-I also rely on them for some of the commonly replaced parts. Ebay is also a good source but is often pricey. There are a number of...

WHat is value of my 5247?

If the engine has good compression and the crankshaft doesn’t have a lot of up and down or side to side free play, your mower may not need a rebuild. what you have is a Lawn Boy from around 1979 with an “F” engine...a very reliable and long lasting motor. If you are somewhat mechanically...
