No spark from the plug but strong spark from the coil.

Briggs and Stratton single cylinder v tech has a strong spark from the coil utilizing a tester but no spark from the plug. Replaced the plug but still no spark. Asked a mechanic and he said that he would first just replace the coil. Ordered a new coil and hope that it will fix the problem but not too confident since the original coil has a very strong spark. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Also removed the wirc coming off of the coil hoping to by pass any safety switch that may be grounding out the plug but that made no difference.

Tested plug while in the cylinder head no light on tester. Also removed plug and attached to tester with plug grounded to the frame, no light on tester. Tester lights up when attached to coil plug and grounded.
 
It sounds like the connection between the tester and spark plug, and potentially the plug connection. Look into the connectors, make sure they connect well. Do you have a multimeter?

Can you check resistance from spark plug connector through the coil, then connect spark plug and check from center electrode on the plug through the coil? Does that make sense? I've never tried that.

Checked connections and all are snug and tight. Will check the resistance with my multimeter.

The blink style testers cannot be used connected between the spark plug wire and grounded. It takes like nothing to blink the light since the tester basically doesn't have any resistance. So from your description I would be replacing the coil.
