1. Should I be concerned about the melted covering on the choke cable - or is it merely cosmetic?
2. Anyone know what's up with the open-ended hose by the fuel pump?
3. One of the three fuses is missing (under the seat) - I think it's for the display (please see the
pic of the bottom of the display where the third connector is disconnected) - is this commonly
disconnected when the machine gets old?
Thanks!

Also ...
4. I had this fancy filter intended for something else that wasn't used. Look OK?
5. Anything unique about the fuel pump? I'm thinking of replacing it.
6. Is the fuel tank vent OK as is?
Note: I've started replacing the fuel hoses as well.

1. Wouldn’t worry about it.
2. What is connected to the other end of that hose?
3. That’s not a fuse holder, but an electrical plug.
4. Wouldn’t worry about it.
5. Pump looks good.
6. Personally wouldn’t worry about it, but others may disagree.

Looks like the tank vent is popped up out of the tank grommet. And the nipple on the vent is broke off. Normally that vent would sit almost flush with the top of the tank, and the vent line would come off of it below the fender and most likely would connect to that hose in your picture. Everything else looks fine but what that style of fuel filter because they are designed to unscrew to replace the filter element and they will come loose and start leaking.

#2 - It appears to run back to the carb behind/below the air filter (see pics)

#3 - Sigh. I should have looked more closely - I would have known that. I don't see a purpose for it. (It looks like a CB or Ham radio 12v connector.)

Is the tank vent replaceable or would the whole tank have to be replaced? OK re. the filter. I put screw clamps on either side of the filter and will keep an eye on it. 1712187204582.png

Looks like that vent ie check valve does protrude from the top of the tank on that mower

Item 17 on this diagram also shows the grommet that it pushes into item 23
