A blank hour meter is usually a blown fuse.
The parking brake & the lap bars are tied together so if you try to move with the brake on the engine dies
The parking brake & the seat switch are tied together so if you get off the seat without the brake on the engine dies

Common element here is the brake switch.

From memory ( causeI don't have a circuit diagram for the 445 ) the safety switches work via a relay and if there is no power then the relay can not work
So start with the fuses, then the relays then the brake switch.

I can not strongly enough recommend that JD owners buy the JD Technical Manual.
IT will pay for itself the first time you use it
IT will allow the most technically challenged to do major repairs with ease
and when you sell the mower used it will increase the price by about 20%.
When I have a JD to sell , I add a "free service manual" and charge $ 1000 ( Aus ) more than the going rate for the mower .
They always sell within a day or two.

The square box is a relay
However it may or may not be causing you troubles.
The relay could be bad, they go bad or the micro switches which trip the relay could be bad.
Does it have numbers like 87, 87a & 30 on it .
IF so, look on face book for "how to test relays"
I could explain it in 200 words that will still have you confused or you can watch 15 second video and fully understand.
