I was stupid. I put straight gas in my Toro 2-cycle leaf blower. Nothing traumatic appears to have happened to the engine, but now I can't get it started with the correct 40:1 gas/oil mix. I'm trying to figure out what else I can do to try and troubleshoot the engine.
Here's the facts of what I found and what I did (in no particular order):
* The engine is not seized up. Pull the cord and it feels like it's got normal compression. (For the sake of discussion, let's assume I haven't scored the walls of the cylinder. I'm not ready to pop the cylinder head just yet to find out.)
* Verified that spark is getting to the plug.
* The spark plug looks healthy.
* Checked the gap on the plug, and it's correct.
* I dumped all gas out of the system. Removed the spark plug and primed the bulb until there was no gas visible through the lines into and out of the carb. Then I pulled the cord a couple of times to make sure to clear the cylinder. I feel it's safe to say there was no gas left in the system anywhere at this point.
* Loaded brand new 40:1 mix.
* Shot a little engine starter fluid via carb air-intake and some directly into the cylinder head. Nothing happened when I pulled the cord. (Tried with and without priming with gas mix.)
So at this point, I have yet to get even a cough out of the thing. I still need to pop the plug, connect it and ground it to visually inspect for a spark. But I'd be a little surprised if the wrong gas can toast a plug.
What else can I try here?
