Wisconsin pops cork

Hi guys,

I've been watching and reading this forum for a while. This is my first post.

I have a wisconsin TRA12D on a 1970 Bolens 1256. At high rpm's it pops the dipstick out of the tube. It does not have any effect on how it runs, but does blow oil all over the underside of the hood. This mower has been sitting for about 10 years. I have had it running at full throttle b4. That is b4 i moved the throttle cable. Now full throttle results in the oily mess.

My vent tube is clear.

Any thoughts?

Kenny is right the only thing that would blow the dipstick out is pressure in the crankcase and that comes from blow-by on the rings.
If it sat for a long time the cylinder may have gotten rusty and when you started it you broke a ring or the ring may be just stuck.

Their is one other possibility I had a tecumseh that started blowing oil and the crankcase vent on the front of the block was plugged.
I cleaned it and all was fine.
I don't know if your model of Wisconsin has a valve like that on it or not, Look for a hose or vent pipe it will be behind that.

could be broken ring but that would most likely cause running problems. most likely a plugged breather or a mud daiber built a nest in the rubber vent tube coming of the breather assy.

The vent tube is usually the first thing I suspect also, without proper crankcase venting it will push / pull air from any place, with every stroke of the piston...But he did state "My vent tube is clear."...

Leaving me thinking the only item that might allow it to continue running.. Rings??
