I reserrected a 1994 over one winter and it is running perfectly. My problem is the mower CUT is terrible it leaves riges and the lawn looks like heck!
I found that the front wheel on the left side and the rear spring loaded one on the same side are worn excessivly obvious just to site. It appears that the entire weight is on the left side. This is opposite to the side where the deck lifts from. I have made as much adjustment as the deck allows, but to no result. It seems the deck is riding on the left side and not normalizing position when lowered.

Is there a typical problem with these models because the deck is lifted by an off center location?

If any of you have experienced this please help me out. It is a 38" deck.

There are so many parts involved in a "level deck". With a 20 year old mower many of them could be worn/ bent. One common mistake is to fill the tires to the max pressure embossed on the side of the tire. This is almost never the correct pressure. Check owners manual for proper inflation. If you have ridges as bad as you say, that suggests bent blade(s). Any mower dealer would be glad to test them for you. Match up like parts from both sides and inspect for bent linkages. Also look at parts breakdown. If deck is leaning to 1 side you may be missing a spring. Overall, close inspection of the many parts involved will find your problem(s).
