I'm pretty sure the engine in my electric weed trimmer is shot. Is it worth taking to a small engine repair shop to try and have it fixed or would it be easier and more cost effective to just go to WalMart and buy a new one ? I think I can get the same kind for about $40.
If it were me I'd cough up the $40 to buy a new one. I can't see it getting fixed for anything less than that. The labor alone could be almost that much at a small repair shop.

Your best investment may be time. Start taking it apart and see if you can fix it. If nothing else you'll learn a little bit about how it works. Be sure it's unplugged before you start.
Why do you think it's shot?
Like RobertBrown said.. .take it apart.
The worst end result will be you throw it away and buy a new one...
'BUT you may discover what it needs and be able to repair it ... yourself... :smile:KennyV
