Should one do a tune up their ford riding mower at the end of the season or the beginning of the season? Should you put gas in it and leave the mower on and let it run out of gas before you tune it up?

I would tune it up at the beginning of the season. Also you do want to put a little gas in it and let it run dry. Then you will want to check your spark pugs as well as change the oil.

Tune up and oil change at the beginning of season

Fresh full tank of fuel with stabilizer at end of season.

either drain carb or run engine to get stabilizer in carb and top up tank.

Empty fuel tanks collect condensation.

and of course antifreeze if its liquid cooled

If you are using fuel with ethanol in it, RUN IT DRY! While it is sitting the ethanol will attract moisture and you will be rebuilding the carb at the beginning of the season when you do your tune-up.

I.ve never had that problem. The stabilized premix in my boat is 5 years old, and it started and ran fine this summer.

But our gas up here is differrent,
