Troybilt Pony over heating

I have a 2003 TroyBilt Pony 17.5HP mower and sitting all winter it runs for about 15 mins and seems to overheat and quit running. I changed out the coil pack but it is still doing the same thing.

Run the mower until it quits, then turn the key on and off, and listen for the fuel solenoid on the carb. You should hear it click when you turn on and off. If it doesn't click then that is most likely the problem. The other thing to look for is. If you turn the key off and back on, and you hear the click, then immediately start the mower, it is possible that the plastic tip on the solenoid plunger is coming loose, and stopping the fuel flow.

Very hard to hear "click" of solenoid on carb. when key is turned
Dropped the float bowl-tip plunger moves down all the way when key is turned but raises about 1/16 to 1/8 after 5 mins. Mowed again for 7 mins engine started to buck disengaged mower deck and it smooths out for a min then died

Remove the solenoid again, and gentle pull on the plastic tip to see if it comes off. If it comes off you can epoxy it on, or if you don't mind the afterfire bang, just leave it off.
