In June 2019 I purchased a Troy-Bilt lawnmower ( Bronco 46 model 13AJA1BT066 S/N 1B259H40062). The mower ran fine for the remainder of 2019. In 2020 I noticed that it was losing power in reverse. Forward power was fine. By the end of the season the mower would not move in reverse. Because we are over 100 miles from the nearest certified Troy-Bilt service I took the mower into our local shop. They changed the hydrostatic fluid and the mower ran fine in reverse. This year the mower is again losing power in reverse and at this time barely moves in reverse. Otherwise it runs fine. I know the warranty has expired. What I would like is some idea what is wrong and what repairs need to be made.

That is really weird Tom.
If it works in one direction then it should work in the other just as well
Check that the controls are moving the full amount.
Jack it up, put it on stands then get under and move the control arm at the box .
Does the reverse pedal vanish under the foot boards ?
On some the arm that the F-R pedal is on can bend a little so that the reverse hits the floor before the arm on the box has moved full distance .
