Strange start no start situation?

I'm being tortured by my Simplicity Broadmoor 22/44 with push button start.
I recently replaced the battery with one that is a little more powerful than the original (300 cca vs 220 cca).
After replacing the machine started, ran, mowed and stopped normally.
When I went to restart it wouldn't crank. No power to the push button switch.
He's what's strange to me. If I disconnect the neg battery wire and reconnect it the start switch button will light up without pushing it. When I push the button the machine will start, run, mow and shut off normally. Then it won't restart until I disconnect and reconnect the negitive battery wire.
When I reconnect the neg wire I get a spark as if a circuit is engaged and I can hear the relay switching.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance

Complicated one this
We will need to consult the actual wiring diagram to see what is happening
It could be a faulty switch or faulty relay
But to do this we need to know the actual model & serial number to make sure we are looking at the right diagram

Model 2691334-00

Serial: 2017320106
No power to the start / stop switch after machine is shut off.
Replaced the relay with new one. Didn't fix the issue.

Very much sounds like a module fault.
Right now I am up to my neck having taken 3 weeks off in spring at the tail end of floods so grass is growing 3' a week.
If I get time tonight I will try to dig out your wiring diagram and work through it .
The modules usually trigger the relays via a ground
check that you have power to the relay # 30 terminal

There is power to the relay # 30 terminal when the machine is in the no start condition.
Thank you for your assistance.
Most of my machine's work is finished for the year. I'd like to get things working properly before winter storage.
Best to you on getting caught up with your mowing.

Sound like a faulty connector terminal.

Thanks for your response.
Not sure what you mean by a faulty connector terminal.
Do you mean the main battery ground wire terminal or just a bad connection somewhere?

Terminal 30 will connect to either 87 or 87a when the trigger wires are energised & grounded
You can of course do this manually with a short jumper after removing the relay
Usually the modules make a ground contact on the trigger terminal
The boss decided to start shearing today so I will be busy for the next week
Hopefully some one can dig out your circuit diagram
Simplicity web page is "Simplicity manufacturing" and mot wiring diagrams are there for download

Following up on this thread. I've isolated the problem to this part. Part 0430 (1739020YP) on the parts diagram which is part of service kit 1688084.
Something inside of this box must trigger a capacitor which triggers the relay to provide power to the start switch.
To verify that this is the faulty part I installed it on another Simplicity tractor (broadmoor 27/52) that I have that shares the same part.
The exact problem followed the part to the other tractor.
None of my local shops have either the part or the kit.
When I search online for the kit some sites show the box that I have pictured while others seem to be selling a kit that bypasses the box?
Does anybody have any experience with this?
thanks
rob
