They better start buying batteries by the truckload. There going to need them. Maybe some sheep & goats also.

On youtube there is a video where the guy shows a few Teslas- you know the "green vehicles" charging. Following the power cords, they go to a large diesel generator.

In your case, the mowers will leave their truck running while they are cutting to charge up batteries to swap every other job.

I saw where Illinois is considering a similar ban.

Likely a boom in small engine repair for some years until they find a way to ban USE of small i.c.e. tools. Probably, more subscribers to this site too.

I'd expect some other locales to announce soon too.

If you have gas-powered stuff, I'd pick up some spare parts and a muffler or 2. They may let you use some items (mowers?) that you already own, but when they are done-in, you may be forced to electric. There will probably be exceptions for g'mint and maybe licensed contractors....

Nothing will change .
It is just the Democrats will do it sooner.
Enviromental pollution of the air is and always will be a scientific & technical problem.
Vested interests turned it into a political divisive one and shifted it from a right wing objective to a left wing problem.
This they thought would protect their profits forever but it backfired badly.
SO in place of a gradual transition over 50 to 100 years it was business as usual for 30 then a 10 year transition to almost zero sales and financial collapse of the oil gas & coal industries , but I suppose those who made the decisions won't really care as they fly their private jets to a Swiss mountain retreat ( that they bought with your money ) while you cook in your own home because you can not afford the power to run your air con nor the $ 40,000 to properly insulate your hose + the $ 50,000 needed to renovate it to become solar efficient.
We knew what needed to be done 40 years ago but we did the exact opposite so a tiny number of people could become richer than kings .
And they turned it into a political debate so while the Reds & Blues were busy blaming each other and fighting each other in the streets they could fill their pockets with both sides money, which they have done very well .
So now the badly designed & poorly constructed houses orientated the wrong way on blocks that never should have had a house built on them in the first place will cost a fortune to heat & cool as electricity prices rise and household gas ( which is more energy efficient ) is phased out completely.
So now you will have to buy new ovens & heaters ( made in a 3rd world country & sold to you for 20 times the purchase price ) so again the puppeteers will be stuffing your pockets with the profits from a situation that they created .
Then all of the poor efficency cheap imported air conditioners will need to be replaced with more environmentally friendly ones . ( more of your money in their pockets ) .

And I am not poking poo at Americans here, our Murdochs & Loweys have made billions from destroying the planet & communities and we as a population have been living in a fools paradise for 50 years on royalties till we have become too lazy to wipe our own bums .

No need to tell me about the dangers of EV's
In fact EV's are not more environmentally friendly that petrol powered cars and in most cases will be a lot worse unless you do a lot of miles a year .
But if you are a politican all you need to worry about is what comes out of the exhaust pipe ( or lack of one ) in your juristriction.
The amount of pollution generated in the creation of the vehicle does not matter because it happens outside your state or country so you can beat your chest about how good you are and pillory the governments where the EV's are made for their pollution .
Lithium is good power source for small items that need a steady supply of low current at a constant voltage
Things like computers, phones , watches .
They are marginal in high power requirement like tools such as drills , saws & mowers
They are pathetic for very heavy drain items like cars & trucks
Hydrogen burned in an IC engine is a much better solution and will probably be the choice for shipping, heavy transport & earth moving where the weight of the gas cylinders can be an advantage but until a safe method of delivery is worked out not viable for domestic vehicles .
For short trips then compressed air is a good solution & is being used in Delhi for airport taxis but won't tow your boat or caravan.

Then because people do stupid things there will be a big increase in house fires as home owners try to circumvent the fact that batteries or chargers are no longer availible for their drill. mower , chainsaw etc

For household off grid power I could not think of a worse solution than a lithium bomb bolted to the side of their house and every one seems to overlook that a lithium house packrequires quite a complicated cooling system to prevent it going critical which ranges from 75 to 90 deg C
For households , flow cells are a far better solution
For grid back up the molten metal batteries are far better
Neither of these can explode or burn no matter what you do to them .
But both are too bulky to use in vehicles at this point in time .

If the same number of EV's are made in a year as we currently make IC engines then there is not enough copper or cobalt available to do it .
