Snapper Rear Engine SR1433 barely moves in reverse

I just bought a used Snapper SR1433. Everything on it was great until I got it home and tried to go in reverse up a hill. It pulled up my driveway forward without any problems. In reverse, it wont budge. Once I got in my garage on a flat surface, reverse was fine.
Can somebody give me some things to check or some troubleshooting that I can do to tell whether or not I just wasted my money?
