Walk behind Snapper Mod. WP21657517BV Clutch cable connection.

This is my first post and I sure don't want to sound too too dumb. The spring on the clutch cable broke on the end that attaches to the clutch mechanism. I have replaced the spring before but the break was on the cable end and no problem. Now don't laugh but I am unable to locate where the spring hooks to It must be right in front of me.

No problem, welcome. If your snapper is one of the rear-wheel drive models it connects down on that little bracket that holds the small pulley that the drive belt goes around. It's kinda hard to see though, removing the bag chute will help. I can post some pics tonight when I get home of where it attaches.

Actually, this photo might work. Right where the handlebar connects to the deck you'll see that gray piece of metal just to the left of it, above the axle. That piece has the pulley that the belt goes around attached to it. The clutch cable attaches to that piece, towards the front. You have to angle that hook on your new spring into that hole, kinda awkward to do. Remove the chute and maybe get the mower up on a stand so u have a better view of things. If that pic doesn't help I can take a better one tonight.

Ok, here are some better pics. Here u can see the arm that holds the pulley. This is where the clutch cable attaches to. I'm still assuming your mower, although newer than any of mine, has basically the same rear drive system. I know nothing about the front drive models. So, the adjustable spring the the actual clutch cable clips onto attaches to this arm. It's best to remove the belt to get a better angle on it. The arm will lift up higher that way. Attach the spring first then attach the cable to the spring. I hope that helps u out.
