I put a new battery in, and PTO clutch on my Snapper LT16002 and had wires getting hot after it ran for about 5 minutes. Decided to replace the key switch, PTO switch, headlight switch and solenoid since all were at least 20 years old. When I got into doing the replacement I noticed that the doide #7023235 was fried to the point of the wire end broken apart. Obviously this is not right! My question is......is there another diode that can be used in place of the $32 OEM one? Anyone know what amperage and voltage diode is required?

Thanks!

Use OEM parts and sleep well at night.

Thanks for the advice, but I was hopeful that someone would know what diode I could "try" before I purchased the OEM diode. I really do not want to fry a $32 diode before I can check out the wiring on this mower. Anyone know of a cheaper diode that I can use for a "test" part? Anyone have any suggestions on why the original diode was fried? Would a bad PTO clutch cause it to fry the diode? The old PTO clutch was completely shot! (Bearing was 1/2 gone!)
