I have a 2004 Broodmoor 16HP Briggs&Stratton Vanguard Twin and the engine blew a rod over the weekend. I am trying to find the replacement engine but can't seem to match up this model number anywhere. (303777-1114-E1) Does anyone know if there is a new cross reference so as I can purchase a new engine or a part number for a new engine. Thanks in advance.

THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE PART # IS 3057773032
494057 IS THE SHORTBLOCK. VERY COMMON ENGINE.
ASK YOUR LOCAL DEALER TO CALL THEIR DISTRIBUTOR AND CHECK FOR ANY CLOSE OUT ENGINES.

Thanks GoToGuy!. do I need to worry about the -E1 at the end of the old model number or can I just order the engine model you provided and it should have the same shaft size etc. Appreciate the help. JC

A cheeper alternative might be to search craigslist for a tractor with a similar motor and bad trans or deck - make sure the motor runs before purchasing, then swap engines- could put the bad motor on the parts tractor then sell it for parts.

Personally id go for a opposed twin motor( if it fits under the hood) , besides having a ton more power, you wouldnt have half as many issues.
