Simplicity 12ltg problem

I have a simplicity 12 ltg lawnmower and it has been sitting in my garage for 5 years and I finally got it out and the battery was dead so I replaced it and cleaned the spark plug and changed the gas but it sometimes tries to start cranks over then dies like 5 seconds after I got it to start one time but other than that it just doesn't go also the battery drains when you try to start it up and I cleaned up all the connectors but it still does the same thing is it a bad starter solenoid or I have no idea someone please help me.
