I've been unable to locate a throttle control lever for my 1980 Lawn Boy model 5247, serial number 9510868. Do any of you helpful fellows know where I can purchase one? A former LB dealer told me the part is obsolete, and they don't know where to get one.

If someone could help locate a throttle control lever, perhaps the knowledge could could help many of us. It is a small part that is easily broken off. It is helpful to have a speed control lever.

Perhaps someone can suggest a creative way to fix one that is broken off at the point where it goes under the shroud. The plastic stub of the throttle control lever is still attached to the metal bar it slides left & right on.

Thanks, fellows!

Is this what you are looking for?

If broken best way to fix is buy a new one, be there and done that

I think he's talking about the plastic lever that protrudes just above the air filter and adjusts the speed. I can't remember seeing that part for sale separately.

My best advice is to look for an old mower with the same carb. Then you get a whole bunch of parts. How's the CraigsList market in your area, Gene123?

Is the part you need part of the air cleaner? Also, you could just set it to full throttle some how, really do not need to turn throttle down as the governor adjust the throttle, might affect starting if you cannot choke the carb, but with a primer should be able to start.

Thanks for the response, lewb. This is close, but not it. The broken part I need is a small lever that sticks out just above the air filter. It moves horizontally, left to right, to adjust the speed.

I'm guessing a picture (is worth a thousand words) would show folks exactly what you're looking for. Can you post one?

The part number 609631 is the speed control lever and is still available from Lawn Boy, price $3.42 note: Lawn Boy shows it B/O on back order - it may take 2-3 weeks to arrive. BUT it is still an available part. This is the lever that sticks out just above the air filter housing to adjust the engine speed from low to high.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your responses. They all helped. I'm finding out Lawn Boys can be confusing.

I finally stumbled on a site which shows Lawn Boy used three carbs on the F100 engine. No wonder local shops were having a hard time figuring it out. The site is https://lookup3.toro.com/ttcGateway/acrobat/manuals/lball.html. Page 4-34 titled "F Series Carburetor Identification" shows the three carbs. The speed control lever I need looks like the one in the middle picture. Page 4-51 deals with the governor, but it has the best picture of my carb and the speed control lever I need. I'd post an actual pic of mine, but I can't get one.

I can't find the part number for for the speed control lever I need. The suggested speed control lever number 609631 is close, but it looks like that one is for the "early model" carb. My carb appears to be a "later model." My mower is model 5247, serial number 9510868, F100 engine.

Do any of you fellows know the part number for the speed control lever for my carb? Can you direct me to a source for one? This has myself and two local shops stumped. An old Lawn Boy dealer told me it's an obsolete part, and they don't know where to locate one.

Thanks, again, to everyone for helpful responses.
