I've been having a miserable time with the mower deck on my 20-year-old Scotts/John Deere 1642. I decided to change the belt recently after it repeatedly jumped off its pulley, bending the pulley guard. However, the problem has continued after replacing the belt and I now see that the pulley itself isn't aligned with the path of the belt and the other pulleys. The cause of the problem seems to be that the mount for the pulley has gone into the lawnmower deck, causing the pulley mount and pulley to be out of alignment. I'm in the process of removing the deck to get a better look at this but would appreciate any advice on how to repair the mount.
