I was mowing and my Scag Tiger Cat 61 inch kohler 27hp engine stopped and would not start. There was no engine turning over or anything. It seemed like no power. I checked the fuses next to the ignition panel and a 20A fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and the engine started but the PTO would not engage. I test the PTO clutch at the green leads off the clutch and read 1.8 ohms. Does that indicate a bad clutch? Should I test the switch?

1.8 ohms is a little to much, might be clutch time.

You may check my recent post that almost sounds like the same problem I had. Before to go changing out the clutch, wire jump your PTO switch and see if you get any engagement there first. Mine didn't blow a fuse, but did stop turning blades in the middle of mowing. Just yesterday, I put new switch on. Will be mowing today. Just my 2 cents.

As said, if you can't do it, have someone check the PTO. switch before sending money on a new clutch. Could be throwing away good money when you don't have to.
