Restoring a john deer 170

I want to restore my 170 after grass cutting is over I still want to mow with it I'm going to get new decals and repaint it with jd paint and primer do I need to clear coat it and how do you put new decals on

You must be good with a paint spray gun. I would say tape off the old decals. As far as a clear coat my question would be why. It takes a lot of sanding and them buffing to get a good finish. Just what are you going to do with this mower when you are finish with it. Show it or mow with it? I find mower that get used get scratched.

I still want to mow with it but the old decals are in bad shape and I was going to spray paint it
