Replacement Engine

Hi all. My old craftsman riding mower has a b&s 13.5hp I/C gold engine that blew up the other day so I need a replacement. Problem is I can’t find any secondhand in my area. Are there any comparable engines of other make that could replace it? Thanks!

Above the spark plug stamped into the metal cover will be a sequence of numbers , Model, Code, Type & serial
will look like 123456 7890-?1 then the serial YYMMDD?? which is the date of manufacture.
Use the first number to search in places like

Just about any engine around that Hp rating will go in but only a B & S will be plug & play
Other brands will require some rewiring as the electrical plugs tend to be different types
If your muffle is bolted directly to the engine then easy.
If it is bolted to the mower then it isa Craftsman part so may not fit any other engine without some work .
