So just recently bought this yardman mtd I have no idea what model or year. Bought it cheap, to be exact for $33 needed some repair so I started diagnostics because I wasn't told reason why it stopped working. So I tried spinning it by hand and to my surprise it would only spin 1/4 of the way before it stopped decided to check oil. no oil so I put some oil i had laying around and boom i could rotate it with one hand no problem, no noise sounds like everything is good besides that. Checked the oil a little bit and noticed it was low. I checked underneath and it was leaking. decided to take the engine out and it seems from what I read it's the bottom seal but have no idea I just know its coming from where the pully goes into. So I guess my question is, is it the bottom seal? what can I do to repair it. How Hard is the repair. So far I have $33 into it and a couple of hours not looking to spend more than $150-$200. And I would do the work myself unless the labor is not that expensive. And also is it worth my time and money. also I dont now much about it so some info about the tractor would be appreciated

Sure looks like it to me.
Post up the engine model numbers (Kohler prints it on a silver tag stuck to the engine cover) so we can help you better.
Oil seal, and a new sump gasket, it is possible to remove the seal without removing the sump, but i prefer to go ahead and take the sump off.

Okay, you have the Courage 19 bucket engine,so in this case the "sump" cover is on the top of the engine instead of on the bottom like 99% of other engines.
Here's the Free service manual from Kohler, Page 64 is what you need. http://resources.kohler.com/power/kohler/enginesUS/pdf/20_690_01_EN.pdf
And parts diagram https://www.partstree.com/models/sv...made-for-mtd-19hp-14-2kw/crankcase-2-20-9-10/
So from what I can see I would have to take the engine apart right ? if yes not sure if I would be able to put it back together I usually have an extra bolt when im usually done repairing things. So it it worth my time to mess with it ? And most importantly is it worth it money wise ?

WOW, this guy made it seem so easy because it is. thought I had to take the whole engine out. I have some knowledge on taking vehicle engines but not small and didn't want to mess it up. But this, this is easy im going to try that tomorrow early in the morning and update when im done to see if the leaking stopped thanks alot for your help and happy Thanksgiving ( in advance )
