No spark

I have a 1968 simplicity souvern 3012 hydrolift. I am in process of restoring this mower, but no spark, replaced coil, points and condensor still no spark. Engine is a brigs n stratton cast iron 10 horse, 300421-0127-99, all help and ideas appreciated. Crazydean58

You said you replaced the coil, what part number did you use? The OEM number was 298968 which is no long available and unless you received one in the original box, you may not have the correct one. The coil number has been superseded to 398811 which is a Magnatron coil, which no longer uses points and condenser.

One question here is does this engine has cast iron crankcase or just a cast iron cylinder sleeve? Makes a difference as cast iron crankcase use positive ground instead of the negative ground. The aluminum crankcase version used. And if cast iron crankcase the Magnetron will not work right if all as the flywheel magnets are reversed polarity.
