new to me, Simplicity Prestige w/ 50" deck

Package #1693974. It has a little over 800 hours. I've set the deck at the highest position (rollers in lowest), its cutting at about 2.5 - 2.75 inches. Grass looks evenly cut. But the height adjustment can't be correct, that is pretty short for a highest setting. What can I do to track down the issue?

Blades were dipped low in the front. Used the rod adjustment to raise the front of the deck. Cuts about 3.5 inches now. That is probably good enough for my use, but still doesn't seem like what it should be. Now I'm shopping for a mulcher kit, but unfortunately finding they're not readily available - dealer says they're backordered.

Got lucky, found a kit on the shelf from sepw.com.... installed today - works pretty good. Part of the documentation talked about a add on leaf shredder, anyone try those? Seems like they bolt to the inside of the deck.
