S/n K015B0340. Took the kinked throttle cable off and the carb end seems to be a proprietary type. It also needs the cable for the safety shutoff, also kinked. I priced both cables online and came up with freight to around $100. That's way more than I would like to spend. Anyone have any luck with a fitsall throttle cable? Or the other cable? I have always liked Lawn Boys, I would really like to get this one running.

You are in for a ride with these cables. Wow how proprietary can they be. Good luck.

Both ends of both cables are propriatery. I salvage workable cables off salvage mowers I get. Still not enough to go around. You can get by without a throttle cable, just by setting the governor to the speed you want----unless you have one of the models that uses the throttle cable to actuate a choke also for starting.

:welcome:

Aftermarket suppliers sell generic cables, buy the longest one.
The Z bends are made with a notched tool or a modified mole grip.
Both are sold by mower repair shops ( not glass fronts or big box shops )
Amazon may ever keep them magic word is Z bender.

Now pull the inner out of the outer and cut the new outer the same size as the old one.
Clean up the cut end with a file.
put the inner back in and install the cable.
Now with your Z bending tool make a Z in the end of the cable theb cut it off.
Do a couple of practices Z's then cut the inner to length and put the final Z in backwards :mur: so you have to go & buy another cable:laughing:

In most cases the lawnboy cables have molded ends that are specific to Lawnboy, not Z-bends. However, there are alternate sources for lawnboy
cables, such as Amazon and eBay.

With this particular cable, both ends have a "Z" bend, but the carb end has a tab with a hole in it to attach to the air cleaner.DSCN0581.jpgDSCN0580.jpg It also says "Wescon 12567" on the cable. The cable is 57 3/8" long. These 2 pics are of the same thing with 2 different perspectives. I hope it helps. Thanks...

In the case of this particular throttle cable, if the cable outer sheath is OK, then you can fabricate a new inner wire. Cut one end off and pull out the inner wire. Go to hardware store and look at various thicknesses of bailing wire. They should have something very close, that will slide into outer sheath. It is a simple matter to form the ends then after you slide new wire into sheath.

Well Australia is a country the size of continential USA with a population & economy roughly the size of california.
We have at least 6 manufacturers of aftermarket cables with no primary manufacturig to support them.
So look in your yellow pages for "Control Wires" there is probably a small factory in close proximity that can make any cable for any application from toasters to aircraft rudders.
And there is a hint as down here they tend to be located in airports industrial estates.

The inner cable is not the problem, the outer cable is damaged and kinked and the end that fits the speed control is damaged. I need a new or good used cable..

Well, I finally got this mower running, all it took was a new spark plug. I've mowed some with it and I love it! It's pretty quiet and the self propel works well. I'm thinking of selling my newer OHV Huskee mower. I think I need to do a little cleaning and painting, and I do still need the throttle cable but I can use it without it, it's just a little harder to start. Runs well without it. I'll put some pics up soon...
