New Job

I took on a new job this pass winter. I have found it sure beats repairing equipment. No looking for over priced parts and getting the job done, then on top of it not make much money. It delivering meals to the shut-in for the town. I deliver one hot and one cold meal then just check on that that everything is OK. I will be taking in only my best customers work this coming summer and no new ones with the hope of closing the shop. If I am not making any money I might as well be enjoying my work.

In this area that is called "Meals on Wheels". Have two friends who do that and they say the best part is seeing the smiles on people's faces and knowing they are making a difference. Good Luck in this endeavor, but make sure you stop around and try to keep me in line.

Congrats !
I closed my shop,in Michigan, and moved here, last March, but I still miss being at the job.
It kept me busy, and I had a lot of customers that were also friends.

Godspeed,and good luck.

Yes they call it meals on wheels here also. They do pay me by mileage which is isn't much. By the time I buy my gas I still come out ahead by a small amount. The main thing is I enjoy doing it and meeting new people. As I deliver the meals I find different types of people. Some of them will just open the door enough to take the meal and some its hard to get away from them because they are looking for someone to talk to. I will still have my tools and sure friends, myself, and family will still need repairs. The part I am doing away with is customers looking for a bargain. They are going to find there are no bargains out there when it comes to repairs if a person is out to make a living doing repair work.

Congrats! I think that's damned cool. I might have to think about doing that.
