I have a Murray rider. 30 inch deck. Rear engine 10 hp Tecumseh.

Shucked the blade belt and hit it while blade was still going. I took the pieces to the mower guy, he said it was a 48 inch belt. Bought it. Tried installing it. Too tight/short. Everything I find points to this size.

I found one reference to somewhere around a 55 inch belt.

Pics won’t load so:

model number:30552x12a

Mfg date: 0302....previous owner wrote on instruction book-bought new 9-17-92

Seat sticker: 582245m

Anybody know the correct size blade belt I need???

Thanks!

Dave

Perfect! Got a new 53 inch. Works great.

So now the belt guide on the rear pulley is loose - free floating, rattles like crazy and has come off twice while in use. The guide looks kinda like a horseshoe with the guide tabs.

What holds it on?

No…mine kind of looks like a horseshoe with the tabs bent down. Just a piece of steel bent.

You mean more like this actual image of the part 56641ZMA.

That looks like it. The top u shaped piece must have broken off of the bottom piece when the belt broke and went to never nerve land

Alright here bad and good news.

Briggs (Murray) no longer makes the part. But according to Power Distributors there are limited number still available in one of their alternate warehouses.
