You can if you want, Won't hurt a thing. Now that being said, The engine manufacturers have eliminated the first 5 hour oil change recommendation on engines with an oil filter. The claim is the filter will catch the breakin debris. To each his own.
You really can not damage an engine by changing the oil too often
Oil is cheap replacement parts are not cheap
When I fit a new engine I run a tank or two through the engine ( easy to do because there is 1000 acres of pasture behind the workshop and 3 acres of street frontage )
After this I change the oil & filter then check all of the engine nuts & bolts, the charging rate & reset the valve lash .
If everything is good the customer can come & pick up their mower .
Everything else gets a single full tank run through it .
Always plenty of stuff to do around the workshop and drastically reduces warranty work as I know every thing is working 100% before it leaves the workshop
Down side is I only get to do 2 to 4 repairs a day in the busy periods
