I inherited a 2011 model , Briggs push mower. It's a Platinum series, 191cc motor with 7.25 ft lbs torque. Initially, the mower ran for an hours of so, then died and will not re-start. I've tried new plug and new gas. I can pull the air filter, squirt in some carb spray, and she will fire up, but then die immediately. Anyone know what else I can try? I've started a many of B&S mowers in my day, but this one has a different design so I don't know what I'm doing. Also, this mower is like new and doesn't look to have 10 hours on it.

Bagster, Due respect. Search this forum. Almost every kind of no start situation has been posted. The pro's ( I think) and others like you to search and try and then tell the forum. I think you will then get response. Good luck and contact us again soon.

Sounds like a fuel problem since you can start it with carb cleaner. Did you get rid of the old fuel in it?

Hi Bags,

Loosen the bowl nut and see if gas runs out. If it does you know you've got flow, may just need to drain out a bunch of water from the bowl. If no flow, carb issue, fuel line issue or you are out of gas.

Good luck,

Good morning, Bagster!

First we always want to start with spraying out the carb with carb and choke cleaner, let it sit for about 10 mins and make sure there is fresh fuel in the unit. This will clear up any debris in the carburetor.

If this is an auto choke system, the thermostat may need to be adjusted. You can contact us directly for instructions on how to do this at 1 (800) 444-7774.
