Hello,

I recently purchased this riding mower and would like to know which model it is.

My primary issue is that it does not go anywhere when I put it in gear. It used to work until I put in in reverse and first a few times while mowing a hill. I am pretty sure a belt has just slipped off. I think it is the drive belt, but if someone could correct me on the terminology I'd appreciate it.

If it is the drive belt, which drive belt is compatible? Also, how should the drive belt be routed? I can see something in there spinning but the parts aren't turning.

Model 30544x92D It appears that is the only Murray model in rear engine that ends in 92D

I am also coming with a 30550X92D too.

Now the 30544X92D did come with a Tecumseh TVM195-150236D (8 hp)
and the 30550X92D came with a Tecumseh TVXL220-157246B (10 hp)

Shows as an invalid model number in my Murray dealer parts lookup. Did find some 30550 rear engine riders but nothing ending in X anything.

Try using Parts and Service website. This is where I find a lot of the older mower IPLs.

Thank you all. The diagram showed me the right way to route the belt, so I will try that this weekend.

I tried to route the belt last night. I was able to get the mower to go forward, but once I shifted (put clutch in and shifted) the belt came off. I went ahead and ordered a new belt. It occurred to me that the belt might be loose because when I release off the clutch it goes from nothing to a jerk into gear. Is there anything else I should check for or is replacement belt the likely fix?

Something to check is the transmission support bracket that could be either mounted to the front or one of the front corners of the transmission. If that comes out will allow the tranny to rock and will through the belt off the transmission pulley. If you also find that the bracket has come loose also check around the flange for the axle mounts on the frame. The rocking motion will crack the frame at those locations.

Also get a copy of your parts book and check that all of the belt keepers are in place .
Belt keepers do exactly that keep the belt for jumping off the pulleys
